The M/V Iceberg Panama-flagged cargo ship that was hijacked by Somali Pirates on March 29, 2010.
Somali pirates abducted the six sailors on board the MV Iceberg on March 29 last year. The Indian sailors being held captive aboard the ship are Dheeraj Tiwari, Sapnil Jadhav, Ganesh Mohite, Saji Kumar Purshottam, Santosh Kumar Yadav and Jaswinder Singh.
It remains hijacked, making it the longest-held ship. The pirates have been demanding $ 2.5 million to free Iceberg 1.In September some negotiations for the release started, but were not concluded or continued, because the Pirates considered the offer of the shipowner as unrealistic.
The vessel is owned by a company called ICEBERG INTERNATIONAL LTD, but registered only with “care of” the ISM-manager AZAL SHIPPING & CARGO (L.L.C) – Shipping Lines Agents.
So far Indians are in the custody of pirates captured from four ships -- MV Iceberg, MT Asphalt Venture, MT Savina Caylyn and MV Sinin.
